D'une part, il y a le tricot. Du fil et deux aiguilles, des mailles montées et des mailles rabattues les unes dans les autres, au fur et à mesure de leur passage d'une aiguille à l'autre.
On the one hand, there is knitting. Some yarn and two needles, stitches (loops) picked up and pulled off when moved from one needle to the other.
D'autre part, il y a le crochet. Du fil et un crochet, des mailles montées et rabattues immédiatement, de sorte qu'elles ne s'accumulent jamais sur la tige du crochet.
On the other hand, there is crochet. Some yarn and one hook, stitches picked up and closed one by one, one after each other, so they never gather up on the hook.
Et entre les deux, il y a le crochet tunisien, aussi appelé le tricot crochet. Une technique particulière, hybride entre le tricot et le crochet.
Comme au tricot, les mailles montées s'accumulent sur la tige du crochet.
Comme au crochet, pas besoin de deux aiguilles, un crochet suffit.
And in between, there is Tunisian crochet (also known in English as Afghan crochet). A hybrid technique of knitting and crochet.
As in knitting, stitches are picked up and kept on the hook.
As in crochet, no need for two needles, one hook is enough.

Notez que le crochet utilisé dans la vidéo n'a rien de particulier. Il s'agit d'un modèle standard. Conseil: si vous souhaitez essayer le crochet tunisien, n'achetez pas tout de suite de longs crochets. Faites un premier essai avec un crochet standard que vous avez chez vous. Sans manche ergonomique.
To note: the hook used in this video has nothing special. It's a standard hook. So my advice: if you want to give this technique a try, no need to buy a long hook. Use a crochet hook (without ergonomic grip, though).
